About the Artist

Tim Tron started his painting career in grade school, thanks to an extremely encouraging, and wonderful lady for a teacher named Mrs. Rita Bradshaw. With her encouragement, he soon began painting landscapes in his rural Indiana home.

At the age of 12, Mrs. Bradshaw felt Tim was ready for the next level of instruction, so she arranged for him to meet with the Evansville University portrait artist professor, Mr. Fred Eilers. At the interview Mr. Eilers reviewed Tim's young portfolio and felt he was capable of handling a portrait instruction at the college level. So Tim then went to UE for 2 semesters, taking Portrait Painting I & II. Mr. Eilers felt very confident in Tim's talent level and asked his parents if they would allow him to continue, but since that meant live nudes, they felt that this was as far as a preteen needed to go at this time.

When his grandparents moved to Florida, Tim followed them down to Ft. Myers, where he continued to paint wildlife, people and landscapes.  He studied 2 years of Commercial Art at Edison Community College in Ft. Myers under Robert York, a Robert Rauscheburg colleague, with help from a grant from the Art Club of Ft. Myers.  At the same time, he worked 3 jobs to try to make ends meet, one of which was at a picture framing shop where he also learned to cut mattes, glass and frame paintings.

However, working 3 jobs and trying to keep up at school soon proved to be too much, besides, it was at this time that he married his high school sweetheart, Sheryl Knight and felt a steady job would be better for a newlywed. However, after 3 years of retail, he quickly realized that this was not his life's ambition, so again he returned to Ft. Myers finding employment at Dean Steel, a structural steel building company. Tim landed the job soley on his art portfolio and what little math he could recall from high school, since there was a math test required as part of the interview. He passed the test and learned structural steel drafting on the fly.

In the meantime, Tim decided to try his hand at commercial art again and again took classes from Robert York at Edison College. Afterwhich, he next worked at a trade magazine as an illustrator while freelancing.

However, he soon learned art was very difficult  to make a living at, especially for a realist.  So, in an attempt to get back to college and possibly go into a technical career path, he joined the Air Force. While at the Air Force Autopilot Tech shool in Rantoul Illinois, he entered a logo contest for the bases 100th year anniversary, and won the contest. The logo was used for all publicity and any events during that year's celebration.

While in the Air Force Tim found he was capable of doing advanced math, which was required for any engineering degree, and decided to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree after his active duty term expired. So, he went to night school while in the Air Force and was able to enroll at the University of Florida before leaving the Air Force, in addition to finding a job working at the UF Lightning Research Laboratory.

An opportunity for co-op employment with Northern Telecom brought Tim and his wife, Sheryl, to North Carolina where they soon fell in love with the area and bought land for a possible future homesite. After graduating from UF with a BS in Electrical Engineering, they then moved to NC, where Tim has worked since at Nortel.

In the meantime, Tim and Sheryl built a home on the land purchased in college and started a farming operation. Not long afterward, the family grew with the birth of their two children Jonathan and Mary.

Needless to say, after a long hiatus from painting, he returned to the studio to find his abilities only further matured.  Now, back to his first love, he is painting again and building his portfolio with new pieces that show the latest level of abilities along with many life experiences to influence his style and passion.

We hope you enjoy this gallery and find that  you too might want to someday purchase a piece to enrich your own gallery or home.  Thank you for visiting and come back and see us again.
